The Night

Who does not love the night?

When the air is tranquil and quiet.

The day's errands are long over,

And a trip to dreamland inches closer.

"No, I do not want to sleep,"

"I just want to enjoy this peace so deep."

A sudden urge you feel within

And you cherish the darkness to begin.

This darkness, not so ominous

Brings thoughts so humongous.

That reality closes its blinds

And you dive deeper into your mind.

The world around you is fast asleep

Not an eye can see you weep.

For every bad, there is good

Just as fast you change your mood

There they are, your heart's wishes

In your mind's eye

A desire so strong, you seem to fly.

Hidden from the world,

You drift off, calm and cold.

To conquer a day anew

While another night patiently awaits you.
